I’m able to cogently write about most topics I cover because I have professional experience in them. I’ve been in the Army, in politics, in education, in the press, and in social service non-profits. So those fields are my analytical turf. But as a teenager growing up in the 1970s in Hollywood, Florida, the town next door to Fort Lauderdale, I’ve probably never written about something I have more expertise in: Spring break in South Florida.

Through all four years of high school and inspired by “Where The Boys Are” and Frankie and Annette beach movies, me and my male cohorts made the short car trip to the Lauderdale strip during March and a bit of April. My pals and I were convinced a hundred thousand college girls were escaping the frigid North to personally make our month entertaining and we acted accordingly. The local authorities huffed and puffed about drunkenness, weed, public displays of various types, and general mayhem. They even arrested a small amount of people, kids who spent about 2 hours at the police station and went right back to what they were doing.

It looks as if most things haven’t changed. Good. At least one segment of our youth still has the spine for advanced decadence. That bodes well for a properly rebellious spirit and that bodes well for America. And oh yeah, the mayor is full of it. If he really cracked down he would hurt local business, especially in this economy. That’s not going to happen.

FNC: “About 150 people were arrested in Miami Beach over the weekend as throngs of unruly spring breakers descended on the city. The city is under a midnight curfew amid the pandemic. Friday marked the wildest day in the party hotspot as about 120 people were arrested and two police officers were injured during clashes with the revelers, Local 10 News reported.”

Do you support individual military members being able to opt out of getting the COVID vaccine?

“It is really a difficult situation,” Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber said of the debauchery. “A lot of people are coming here and they are coming here with the wrong intentions…If you are coming here because you think anything goes, you’re going to have a terrible time. We are going to arrest you.” Whistling in the wind, pal.

“The crowd ended up turning on those officers who were there,” said Miami Beach police spokesman Ernesto Rodriguez. No, really? Day drunk college students don’t like the police harshing their buzz? Who could have ever guessed?
